There are several types of treatment carts used in hospital or medical center settings. We will touch on these below: Anesthesia carts, Procedure carts, Isolation carts, IV carts. Some others include surgical cart and malignant hyperthermia cart.
Anesthesia carts
Anesthesia carts are an essential part of the anesthesiologist equipment. They usually come in light colored aluminum finish with either six or seven drawers for storage of anesthetic and related drugs and for convenient scheduling of anesthesia procedures. An anesthesia cart is normally used next to the separate anesthetic gas machine cart. There are basically two types of anesthesia specialty cart, classical anesthesia carts and MR-conditional anesthesia carts.
Classic anesthesia carts: Is used to support and stand next to the anesthesia machine and to organize the needed anesthesia supplies so they are handy during surgeries or during diagnostic procedures which require to have the patient unconscious. Anesthetic carts come in standard and tall/slim versions.
MR-Conditional anesthesia carts: These perform all the functions of classic anesthesia carts but have been certified that they do not pose any hazards in the conditions of MRI, magnetic resonance imaging, and are therefore safe to use in an MRI environment. The MR-Conditional anesthesia carts should not contain any ferromagnetic materials that could be influenced by strong magnetic fields inside and out of the MRI machine, and should not be thermally heated by the radio waves emerging out of the MRI device.

Procedure carts
Procedure carts are designed for a specific procedure or treatment in a medical center or hospital such as epidural anesthesia procedures, surgery, wound dressings, IV applications, trauma procedures, and more. A modern procedure cart will feature ample desk space for quickly accessable items, two, three, or four drawers, and sometimes stretchable arms that adjust.

Isolation carts
Isolation carts, sometimes termed infection control carts, are designed with the purpose to minimize the spread of pathogens inside hosptials. Due to simply presence of sick people in a small space, this is especially important. To achieve resistance to pathogens, isolation carts are painted with antimicrobial paint. Quite typically, you will find isolation specialty cart painted in light yellow or dark yellow hues.

IV carts, IV poles
Many different specialty carts have the ability to include an intravenous pole, and are then classified as IV carts. But sometimes, you want a free-standing IV pole as an independent add-on. In such cases, a standalone IV pole or IV cart comes handy.
